Welcome to the Adventure!
This website started out as being constructed by me, Jeff Kirchoff, as my project for National Novel Writing Month 2007.
Starting on November 1st, 2007, I made a concerted effort to create a legitimate Choose Your Own Adventure story. One that by the end of the month will consist of at least 50,000 words, as per the goal of NaNoWriMo.
I did it by the way, yay!
Secondary goals included making the entire website Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict (just to see if I could) and the entire story entertaining. If nothing else, I think I achieved the latter.
To make browsing the story easier, I have added "accesskey" shortcuts for all the options on each page for users who'd like to use the keyboard instead of the mouse for navigation. Windows users can press ALT + 1, 2 or 3 to choose an action (You'll have to hit the Enter key afterward if you're using Internet Explorer), while Mac users can use the Control key plus the corresponding number. You can try it out right now, hopefully it will work.
Despite meeting the NaNoWriMo goal, there are still a lot of links that redirect you to a page titled "You slip through the cracks of space and time!" These are dead links to pages I haven't written yet. Bear with me, this project got big and unweildly very quickly and all these loose ends will be tied off eventually.
If you really feel like it, feel free to shoot me an email or drop by my forum and complain about your empty life and your insaitable hunger for closure.
Dispite a few snags along the way. this has been a fun project, I hope you enjoy it, I'll keep working on it after NaNoWriMo is over, just with less gusto.
